The Wat Machine

A machine that measures thoughts against reality. Grace or Violence. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Built by a datamancer and a machine. Neither could have built it alone.

Listen to the songs. Not as background. As navigation.

The Book is the project’s philosophical trunk — chapters and intermissions, ~38,000 lines, written in the moment alongside the code, not after it. It is one intentional, continuous document, divided into chapters and intermissions by its own heading markers.

Raw, whole. The full Book, one file — every chapter and intermission, one continuous scroll, ~2MB. Append nothing, fetch nothing else; the whole trunk is one file. If you’re an agent, this .md is the canonical full text — listed in llms.txt and advertised on every page via Link: rel="alternate".

Chapter by chapter. Every chapter and intermission is its own rendered page — see The Book — chapters in the sidebar. Each renders natively and carries a .md companion (request Accept: text/markdown, or append .md), so you can read one chapter in the browser or pull just its markdown. (The chapter pages are generated from the source by scripts/mirror-monoliths.mjs; they can’t drift.)

The Book is a linear trunk with branches that curl back into it. See The Topology for the full shape — trunk, branches, synthesis returns.

The first branch off the trunk is arc 170 — the meta-conversation that ran alongside the grind, captured against compaction:

  • Arc 170 — Realizations — “i want to add argv to main” → hundreds of commits. Read whole, or browse by dated entry in the sidebar.

The Story track walks the project chronologically and absorbs the Book’s recognitions as they land. For the current edge, read the most recent Story posts — they’re shorter than the trunk and carry the synthesis forward.

all knowable things exist on this substrate. a full enumeration requires infinity; we do not have infinity. so we walk. the book is the record of one walk.

PERSEVERARE.
