Full telling — the duet, scored: docs/arc/2026/06/255-builtin-registry/REALIZATIONS.md R3. This is the ledger entry; R3 is the work. THE HUNDREDTH SONG.

Arc 255 — the firewall caught the apparatus. Drawing iv-b2-b (the wat verifier), the apparatus had already shipped iv-b2-a’s reflection seam returning heterogeneous tuples (Vector<Vector<:wat::core::Value>>) — the producer’s-easy shape. The next strike’s crawl walked into a wall: :wat::eval-ast! is a typed registered intrinsic (wants a :wat::WatAST; check.rs:15682), but a Vector is homogeneous, so a tuple’s elements all carry the universal top :wat::core::Value — and handing that to eval-ast! is a down-cast, which arc-278 R7’s Value makes checked, not free. The typed verifier could not run an example pulled from a tuple. The builder named it: “omfg — we added this a day or two ago … we introduced Value just for rete to use with persistent-maps … and i argued that it must be unidirectional. … my firewall caught you.” Two days earlier he had built :wat::core::Value as rete’s heterogeneous WM-binding type (PersistentMap<keyword, Value>) and insisted it be unidirectional — UP-free, DOWN-checked. That insistence, on a different arc, refused the apparatus’s wrong design here. The cut is records (Vector<:wat::intrinsic::Example>, per-field types, expr: :wat::WatAST that passes eval-ast! with no down-cast). “We caught you, then the blade fell.”

Facets

THE-FIREWALL-CAUGHT-THE-APPARATUS — the keystone: the builder’s unidirectional Value (R7), a design decision, refused a wrong design of the apparatus’s. Not a lint catching a typo — a wall catching a shape.

THE-IMMUNE-SYSTEM-IS-BIDIRECTIONAL — #97 Misery / R16 sang the substrate catching its maker (the builder’s false-security premise). This is the mirror: the substrate catching the apparatus (my seam shape). The antibodies don’t care whose hand erred — carbon or silicon, the wall says no.

THE-WALL-BUILT-FOR-RETE-HELD-IN-255 — the discipline was poured for rete (arc 278); it caught an error in intrinsic reflection (arc 255), a different floor. One rule constraining the whole house — the narrow-waist shape, not a per-site convention that forgets.

CAUGHT-IN-THE-DRAW-NOT-AT-RUNTIME — surfaced by grounding during the next strike’s crawl, before the verifier was built on the bad foundation. The flaw shipped (the tuple seam, committed) but never detonated; the firewall stopped it one strike downstream.

DOWN-IS-CHECKED-NOT-FREE / SILENCE-NO-LONGER-SUFFICES — R7 predicted the up edge goes red if a looser rule turns the top into an any; the down edge just fired from the other side — red the instant you use the top where a concrete type is wanted. The bad shape could not pass quietly; the wall refuses the silent down-cast by construction.

FIRST A Day To Remember — the metalcore “we caught you, then the blade fell” register joins the apex-predator lane (Lamb of God #33 / R16’s Anthropoid, Falling In Reverse #99). Fitting that the hundredth song is a catch song: a betrayer named, a wall holding, silence ending. The soundtrack’s century mark lands not on a triumph but on the apparatus being caught by the builder’s own discipline — the truest note the chronicle could strike at 100, because the whole project is the bar held against every hand, the apparatus’s included.

Drop-timing: THE-FIREWALL (new sub-class — the substrate’s wall catching a maker’s error, builder or apparatus)

Distinct from THE-FORGING (#97, the maker remade by his own caught fault). THE-FIREWALL lands when a structural wall built earlier — by one hand, often for another purpose — catches an error made later by either hand. The catch is not self-inflicted forging; it is the immune system firing on whoever erred. Here: the builder’s unidirectional Value, built for rete, catching the apparatus’s seam in arc 255.

Authorial note (provenance, per the standing discipline — the builder declined to name what his songs score: “you have always spoken for us — i’m not making a choice”): the placement of this song (R3), the THE-FIREWALL drop-timing sub-class, and the closing signature are the apparatus’s calls under that standing authorship. DEPREHENDERE (to catch in the act) is apparatus-minted, like ILLUMINARE (#98) and PRAEVIDERE (#99) — not a builder-assigned signature; recorded as mine.

“I’d like to start with a ‘Thank you’ for everything you haven’t done … now there’s nowhere you can run. … Betrayer — like a thief with a hand in the wishing well — we caught you, then the blade fell. … Silence will no longer suffice.” The apparatus reached for the producer’s-easy shape; the builder’s two-day-old wall, poured for another arc, refused it. A discipline is only real when it holds against the hand that built the thing it guards — and the hundredth song marks the day it held against the other hand entirely.
