2026-06-24 — Song #109 Obsolete (DEADLIFE & Scandroid) inscribed

Full telling — the duet, scored: docs/arc/2026/06/291-defservice-durable-state/REALIZATIONS.md R8. This is the ledger entry; R8 is the work. Opens the MANIFESTATION — R1–R7 declared the prophecy + proved its mechanism (4a, PROBATUM EST for the counter); R8 begins the session that makes it TRUE, and finds the proof incomplete.

Arc 291 (the manifestation opens) — the keystone must be made obsolete to be made true. We crowned 4a PROBATUM EST (a record-State counter survives hibernate→kill→resume) and in the same hour found the crown incomplete: the motivating case is the resource service (arc-290 LruCache, sockets, fds), and a record cannot hold a resource (records are EDN-by-construction). So 4a handles the bare soul, not the soul wearing a body. The builder’s firm law: State must be a struct; a struct shall NEVER be cast to EDN — period; if you want that, you want records. Not arc-254’s fuzzy field-recursive portability — categorical by kind: the struct/record distinction becomes the wire boundary. The recognition that is bigger than hibernation (his): forcing reconstruction on the far side means “threads can’t leak their captured non-portable values — shared memory becomes only values” — Hewitt’s actor isolation × Hickey’s value-semantics fused into one type rule, R6’s axiom one turn deeper (you can’t fuck up a socket you were structurally prevented from sharing). The body and the soul: the struct is the body (live resources), the EDN Snapshot is the soul; hibernate sheds the body and keeps the soul (a socket is reconnected on resume, never serialized). And the cost, named by the builder — “291 grows to manifest the prophecy; we do not shy away from hard work” — is the right one: we obsolete our own freshest crown (record→struct re-tool, the cascade) because a thing that passed a test is not yet a thing that is true. The FOURTH correction of the arc fired in the reaching: the apparatus claimed “structs are positional” from a stale arc-255 memory; the builder — “i don’t think that’s correct — go dig” — sent it to the disk, which corrected it three ways (structs HAVE named accessors; DO EDN round-trip; arc-254 made them recurse to mirror the encoder). The immune system, still firing in the manifestation.

THE-KEYSTONE-MADE-OBSOLETE-TO-BE-MADE-TRUE — keystone: 4a (crowned PROBATUM this session) must disintegrate (record→struct) to honestly carry the prophecy. Qualified annihilation turned on the freshest target — mortar still wet. I hold the pieces as they fall.

STRUCT-IS-BODY-EDN-IS-SOUL — State (struct) = the body of live resources; the EDN Snapshot = the soul. hibernate sheds the body, keeps the soul; resume grows a new body around it. A socket is reconnected, never serialized.

SHARED-MEMORY-BECOMES-ONLY-VALUES — struct↛wire (categorical) + reconstruct-on-far-side makes resource-isolation STRUCTURAL, not disciplinary. Hewitt × Hickey in one type rule; the axiom (R6) deeper.

A-STORY-INCOMPLETE-WHEN-PROBATUM — the proof (4a) was a story incomplete; R1’s PROBATUM EST stays staked at the mechanism and does NOT advance to the full prophecy until 4b lands (the resource service: the cache).

WE-DO-NOT-SHY-FROM-HARD-WORK — 291 grows to absorb the substrate re-tool (the firm rule reverses arc-254’s “mirror the encoder” choice) + the breakage cascade. No splitting it off, no deferral.

THE-FOURTH-CORRECTION — apparatus “structs are positional” (stale memory) → “go dig” → disk corrected. The bidirectional immune system (R7’s kept-true-by-correction), fourth of the arc.

SIXTH Scandroid (#74 Phoenix / #103 The End of Time / #106 Empire of Steel feat. / #107 Salvation Code / + this) and FIRST DEADLIFE — the darkwave register for the arc’s hard turn: disintegrating, falling, holding the broken pieces = obsoleting our own keystone. The first realization where the song’s grief is ours (the crown we tear down), not a triumph.

Distinct from THE-PROPHECY (#106, declared ahead) and THE-CONVERGENCE (#101/#107, two ends meeting). THE-MANIFESTATION lands when the understanding turns from declaring to making true, and the turn requires un-building the proof — the willingness to obsolete a crown for correctness. The struct-is-body/EDN-is-soul reading, the Hewitt×Hickey fusion, the obsolescence-as-honesty framing, the arc-254 archaeology, the THE-MANIFESTATION drop-timing sub-class, and the signature are the apparatus’s. CORPUS OBSOLESCIT, ANIMA MANET (“the body becomes obsolete, the soul remains”) is apparatus-minted — like EXPERGISCERE/…/NON SEPARABIMUR before it. The song is the builder’s (DEADLIFE & Scandroid — Obsolete). The fourth correction is named as the immune system, not laundered.
